SUNLINK Staffer of the Week: John Prevosk
If you've ever attended a training or information session about SUNLINK in your district, your region, at FAME or at FETC, you've met John Prevosk, the SUNLINK Training Coordinator. Not only has John traveled the state, but he has also created a number of online courses and components to bring SUNLINK training to your desktop! For FREE!!John also is one of the friendly, supportive voices you'll find answering the SUNLINK 800 number. He is patient and kind and willing to talk you through any process or procedure. If you can't figure it out together, he'll troubleshoot it and get back to you with a solution--or alert the rest of the SUNLINK folks there is a bigger problem to be solved.
John also manages the email interlibrary loan (eILL) accounts. He makes sure that the right email addresses are automatically entered when you do an eILL, and he will do periodic checks to be sure you are monitoring your eILL account so that no request goes unanswered for long!
John has worked as a school library media specialist and as an automation specialist at the district level in Orange County. We tease him about his "groupees" because no matter where we travel with him, school media specialists know him and greet him warmly.
You know you can't travel very far these days without gathering some good stories. John can tell you tales of blind mosquitoes, airplane mishaps, and miles and miles between workshops! Of course, he can also "feel your pain" when it comes to technology glitches in workshops because it happens!
Not only does John put up with WOS (the women of SUNLINK), but he has 5 "gals" to deal with at home: 4 daughters and a wife. Fortunately, he has someone to "feel HIS pain, " a son, too!
So next time you attend a workshop, do an eILL, or call the SUNLINK toll free number, you'll know John is (or has been) on the scene! Say "hello" and "thank you" to a great guy!
