Resources for Secondary English Teachers
This morning on WWWEDU, someone asked for good web sources for a teacher of secondary English/language arts. Because of Florida's new standards in this area, I thought you might like to explore some of the recommendations and add them to your library media webpages:
- The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) site has lots of very useful information and tools, lots of lesson plans that use technology.
- Audrey Hill says she has links that she uses in her 7th grade classroom that would be useful. Go to her site and then to links>tools.
- Carla Beard's Web English Teacher (one of my favorites) is a tremendous resource for English/Language Arts teachers. It presents the best of K-12 English / Language Arts teaching resources: lesson plans, WebQuests, videos, biography, e-texts, criticism, classroom activities and more.
- EDSITEment: Literature and Language Arts offers some tremendous lesson plans and web links.
- The Schools of California Online Resources for Educators (SCORE) Teacher Cyberguides project is a terrific resource and includes lesson plans and teaching guides arranged by grade level area.
- PBS Teacher Source: Arts & Literature is another valuable resource for teachers.
- Tom Daccord has a site dedicated to teaching literature and writing with technology.
- English Online from New Zealand was also recommended.
