Find It in the DEN

The Discovery Educator's Network (DEN) from the Discovery Communications folks (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, United Streaming, etc.) offers some great resources for teachers. There's a directory of resources by subject area/topic, discussion boards, blogs including several from Florida DEN leaders , resource guides, and a calendar of events. On the calendar I found a FREE digital storytelling workshop that is going on RIGHT NOW (July 25) in Putnam County. Wish I had discovered it sooner!
From the website: "The Discovery Educator Network is a global community of educators who are excited by the power of digital media and want to collaborate and share resources with other teachers."
Anyone can use the site, although registered users have more access to tools. Registration is free. It looks like registration is necessary to really take advantages of all the features like downloading many of the activities. Check out the resources under Study and Research Skills. I found several great new ideas for information literacy.

Share this one with your teachers this fall, and/or add it to your teacher resources on your SLMC website.

Also check out Cable in the Classroom- http://www.ciconline.org
They offer great ideas and awards for teachers.
BTW United Streaming is awesome. We're trying to get our district on board, but bandwidth is an issue.
